ARCHITECTURAL CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS

COURSE DESCRIPTION/ OBJECTIVES:
Building Materials is a course creating consciousness about materials and their use in Architecture. In this course, the students are informed on significant issues such as the properties of different kind of materials, their combinations, communication with drawings and material applications, etc. The aim of this course is to define the Architecture as a profession expressing the role of the Architect within the application or production, through analysis of design, selection of material and detailing parameters forming the space. The other important factor is to show students that; the architects should have their responsibilities in professional life during their roles in design or application processes, such as considering the appropriateness of the materials.
COURSE GRADING:
- Midterm Exam (written) 45%
- Final Exam (written) 55%
* Please be aware that attendance lower than 70% will be graded as NA!
